Ingredients:
- Ground beef – 500g (1 lb)
- Hamburger buns – 4
- Cheddar or American cheese – 4 slices
- Lettuce leaves – 4
- Tomato – 1 (sliced)
- Pickles – 4-8 slices
- Red onion – 1 (sliced into rings)
- Ketchup – 4 tbsp
- Mustard – 2 tbsp
- Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp
- Salt and pepper – to taste
- Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Patties:
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1-1.5 cm thick (about 1/2 inch).
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat and lightly grease with vegetable oil.
- Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until done. Place a slice of cheese on each patty about 1 minute before they’re done to allow it to melt.
2. Prepare the Buns:
- Slice the buns in half. Optionally, toast them on the skillet or grill until golden and crispy.
3. Assemble the Burgers:
- Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.
- Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top.
- Add onion rings, tomato slices, lettuce, and pickles.
- Spread mayonnaise on the top half of the bun and place it on top of the burger.
4. Serve:
- Serve the burgers hot with a side of fries or your favorite side dish.
Enjoy your delicious homemade classic American hamburger!
